Four Austin breweries boast beers belonging among the best in the business, as decided by the 2023 World Beer Cup.

Austin's Meanwhile Brewing Co., Austin Beerworks, Pinthouse Brewing and Infamous Brewing Co. all placed in this year's competition. Although the distinctions came in different categories, all four establishments won silver.

Meanwhile Brewing Co., located on 3901 Promontory Point Dr., took home silver in the category of herb and spice beer against 103 competitors. The winning beer is known as "Fore!"

Austin Beerworks's Golden Sour, which customers can enjoy at 3001 Industrial Terrace, won silver in the wood- and barrel-aged sour beer category.

In the 168-competitor hoppy lager category, Pinthouse Brewing earned silver for its Lasso Pils. The brewery is located at 2201 E. Ben White Blvd.

Lastly, against 143 entries, Infamous Brewing Co. on 4602 Weletka Dr. took home silver in the American-style amber/red ale category for its Bugsy's Fire Brush.

Nearby Central Texas winners include Five Stones Artisan Brewery in New Braunfels, which took bronze in the fruit beer category; Pecan Street Brewing in Johnson City, which won bronze in the rye beer category; Real Ale Brewing Co. in Blanco, which earned gold in the same category as Austin Beerworks; and Altstadt Brewery in Fredericksburg, which won gold in the south German-style hefeweizen category.

The Austin breweries are four of the 18 total Texas establishments to win awards in the cup. Others include Below Brewing Co. in Houston, Freetail Brewing Co. in San Antonio and Peticolas Brewing Co. in Dallas.
